چکیده
Forests are the most diverse terrestrial ecosystems, housing a quite large majority of world’s species. It provides many social, economic, and environmental benefits. In addition to timber paper products, forests provide wildlife habitat recreational opportunities, it prevents soil erosion flooding, clean air water as well. Degradation Deforestation occurs when changes happens which affects characteristics forest negatively in such way that value production its goods services decline or is converted an alternative permanent non-forested land use agriculture, grazing urban development. These caused by both direct indirect causes with being human activities e.g agricultural expansion, road construction etc while economic growth etc. A positive correlation between level poverty utilization resources leads deforestation exploitations has been established, estimation more than 90% 1.2 billion people living extreme dependence on for some part their livelihood. Hence, degradation loss pose grave threat biodiversity. The result include reduction carbon storage, climate change perceived forward tackling this programs, addressing tenure matters , monitoring mechanism amongst others.

Mapping Deforestation and Forest Degradation Patterns in Western Himalaya, Pakistan
The Himalayan mountain forest ecosystem has been degrading since the British ruled the area in the 1850s. Local understanding of the patterns and processes of degradation is desperately required to devise management strategies to halt this degradation and provide long-term sustainability. This work comprises a satellite image based study in combination with national expert validation to generat...
متن کاملAutomated mapping of tropical deforestation and forest degradation: CLASlite
Monitoring deforestation and forest degradation is central to assessing changes in carbon storage, biodiversity, and many other ecological processes in tropical regions. Satellite remote sensing is the most accurate and cost-effective way to monitor changes in forest cover and degradation over large geographic areas, but the tools and methods have been highly manual and time consuming, often re...

Assessment of Land Degradation and Farm-Level Deforestation in the Niger Delta Region of Nigeria
Land degradation in the Niger Delta region of Nigeria has been aggravated by deforestation with resultant losses of vital biodiversity. In this paper, we provided an assessment of land degradation with drivers of deforestation in selected states in the Niger Delta. Data were collected with multi-stage sampling procedure and analyzed using descriptive and Tobit regression methods. Results show t...
